A short ride to the nearby town of Lemont takes us to the base of Mt. Nittany. A steady uphill walk of about 45 minutes (that may have you breathing hard at times) to the top provides a panoramic view of Penn State. The hike back down also has some rugged rocky sections and takes only about 20 minutes. For the hike you should wear comfortable walking shoes, or hiking shoes/boots, or a sturdy pair of sneakers, as some sections of the trail are quite rocky. In addition, even though we will be in the shade most of the time, be sure to bring along a bottle of water. Registration here is required for the hike. Limited to 40 people.
This hike will depart at 4:00pm from in front of the Pattee/Paterno Library on Curtin Road.
